Joe Ross Campbell, age 90, of Old NC 226 in Spruce Pine, the Grassy Creek community passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025 at his home.
Born on December 1, 1934 in Anderson County, SC, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Lucille Ross Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son; Joe R. 'Rock' Campbell, his brothers; Ben and Billy Campbell and his sister; Bobbi Sue Lanford.
Joe was a member of the Spruce Pine United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed watching bears, being outdoors, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed watching videos on YouTube and was a Ham Radio Operator.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of forty-eight years; Lorraine McKinney Campbell of the home, his daughter; Brenda Campbell of Taylors, SC, his grandchildren; Amber and Travis, his sister-in-law; Irene Poteat of Hickory, and his nephews; Cody James Hinkle, Scott McKinney, Donnie Lanford and Darrell Lanford, and his niece, Debbie Foster.
Private services for Joe Campbell will be on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special 'Thank You' to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge and particularly Brittany Pitman for their wonderful care of Joe during his illness.
