Joe Thomas Crabtree was born in Monticello, KY on August 30, 1942, and departed this life on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, reaching the age of 82 years. He was the son of the late Shelby Crabtree and Maggie Sexton Crabtree and was raised by his special uncle and aunt, the late Joe and Beulah Sexton Crabtree.
On December 30, 1961, he was united in marriage to Wanda Lee Allen Crabtree whom preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents Shelby Crabtree and Maggie Sexton Crabtree, his special aunt and uncle Joe and Beulah Sexton Crabtree, his wife Wanda Allen Crabtree, he was preceded in death by 1 son Danny Joe Crabtree; 3 brothers, Russell Sexton, Junior Crabtree, and Eddie Crabtree; 1 sister, Magaline Crabtree along with a host of cousins whom he was raised with as siblings.
Joe is survived by his 2 daughters, Melissa (Junior Daniel) Crabtree and Kristy (Jason) Hancock; 6 grandsons, Jordy (Mary) Flynn, Brandon (Erica) Flynn, Austin (Hanna) Raynes, Zac (Cristin) Raynes, Alvin (Haley) Hancock, and Jaxon Hancock; 4 granddaughters, Kathy Daniel, Penny Dishman, Cindy Stinson, Brooke Ball, 4 great-grandchildren along with 7 bonus great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
Joe enlisted in the Army in the late 50's and served his country until the early 60's. Joe was employed primarily as a butcher/handyman in Monticello working for several companies over the years. Joe wanted to help anyone that needed him regardless of whether they had the money to pay him for his services or not. He truly made everyone feel like they were family. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 22, 2025, between 11 am – 2 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 2 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
