Joe David Felps departed from this life on Friday, December 1, 2023, at age 76. Joe was born April 11, 1947, in Stephenville, Texas, to B. Felps and Helen (Whitefield) Rutherford. He worked for Lockheed Martin for 40 years, retiring as a supervisor. Joe married Roxanne Hightower in 1977 and together they raised four children. He was an avid bowler and a member of his local bowling league; Joe enjoyed afternoon naps and relaxing with a glass of sweet tea, but mostly valued spending time with his family and loving his dogs.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Roxanne Felps of Weatherford, Texas; children: son, Andy Felps, daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Jerry Finley, daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Ronnie Pickard, and daughter and son-in-law, Lindsey and Clif Giles; nine grandchildren: Christy (Johnny) Lopez, Diane (Damon) Johnston, Baylee (Clayton) Adair, Caitlyn Finley, A.J. Felps, Natalee Finley, Weston Pickard, Ella Giles, and Alyssa Giles; and eleven great grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and by his granddaughter, Kinslee Jo Pickard.
The family will receive friends during a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2023, at the funeral chapel. Following the service, burial will follow at Spring Creek Cemetery for a committal service. Serving as pallbearers are Ronnie Pickard, Clif Giles, Clayton Adair, Weston Pickard, Mark Wright, and Ryan Lopez.
