Billy Joe Matlock, Jr., age 54, of Carrollton, AL died February 6, 2025 at his residence. Graveside services were 2:00 pm Monday, February 10, 2025 at Franconia-Oak Grove Cemetery in Aliceville with Bro. Trey Reece officiating and Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara June Ammons; father, Billy Joe Matlock, Sr. and his grandparents.
Survivors include his sister, Mona Sutterfield (Sherman); two nieces, Stacey Mayhew (Tim) and Ashley Hill (Jon); three great-nephews, Cory Mayhew (Shae), Cayden Mayhew and Avery Sutterfield and numerous cousins and special friends.
Joe was born March 3, 1970 in Macon, Mississippi. To know Joe or "Uncle Joe" as everyone who knew him called him was to love him. He was a gentle giant, and he loved his family immensely! His nephews and nieces were where his greatest joy came from. He loved nothing more than to just aggravate them and then sit back and watch them laugh. Little children and animals always flocked to him and he always took up time with them. Everywhere he went people knew him and somebody was going to laugh before he left. He was truly one of a kind who will be missed more than words can say. He was always ready for a road trip and a hamburger.
He is going to be missed dearly by his sister who loved him more than words can express and she always got great joy from taking care of him.
Pallbearers will be Sherman Sutterfield, Cory Mayhew, Cayden Mayhew, Avery Sutterfield, Tim Mayhew and Jon Hill.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Ethelsville Church of God Building Fund.
