Amanda was a loving, strong, incredible woman who meant the world to our family. She was always helping someone on any given day, and would be supportive of anything you came to her with. She was the greatest wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend anyone could ask for. No words can truly capture the depth of this loss and love she brought into the lives of all who knew her.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Eutaw Baptist Church with Bro. Ryan Tullock officiating. Burial will be in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Amanda was born on July 22, 1974 to Josephine (Jo) and Ted York in Townsville, Queensland Australia. She was the third and youngest child. Amanda attended numerous schools including Warrior Academy and Demopolis High School. Amanda went on to attend The University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama, where she graduated with a degree in Accounting. She enjoyed the challenges of accounting and made a successful career in that field. She became a mentor to many at her workplaces and had positively impacted many lives.
Amanda was a devoted and loving daughter to her parents and did everything she could to care for her parents who cared so much for her. Amanda was the best sister to Lisa. They had a very special relationship and she cared for and watched out for Lisa at all times.
Amanda was a mother to Tyler York and Gabbie Salzman. She was so tremendously proud of her children and their accomplishments. The kids were such a reflection of Amanda and all she put into bringing the kids up.
Amanda was a great wife to Josh and they celebrated 20 years of marriage as of last May. They were so vibrant together and had so many things to be grateful for. Blessings were abundant.
Amanda was a support group leader and co-leader for the Birmingham, Alabama and Louisiana chapter of Alpha-1, a genetic disease that has an effect on the lungs and liver. She was very committed to the support of patients and research to find a cure for Alpha-1. Please Google Alpha-1 and Alpha-1 Foundation for additional information.
Amanda was a member at Vance Baptist Church and was involved in vacation bible school events and other events. She was supportive of the church even though we had moved to Baton Rouge.
Amanda was proceeded in death by her maternial grandparents J.E. and Juanita Henderson of Eutaw, Alabama and paternal grandparents Joe and Paulene York of Gadsden, Alabama. Her parents Josephine (Jo) York of Eutaw, Alabama and Ted and Jane York of Baton Rouge, Alabama. She also had a brother, Michael York who passed away as a newborn.
Amanda is survived by her husband Joshua Salzman of Baton Rouge, Sister Lisa York of Baton Rouge, Children Tyler York of Tuscaloosa and Gabbie Salzman of Tuscaloosa.
