He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eve Kennedy Mcmeans of Wichita Falls Texas and his son Brandon Mcmeans of the Dallas area, A brother Bruce Mcmeans of Tennessee.
Joe retired from the Criminal Justice Department of Texas in September 2012. He loved animals and his cat Peaches will miss him.
His family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.

Our love and condolences to Joe D's wife Eve and his son Brandon. A heartfelt "thank you" to Eve's sister Ellen and Family. for their support, aid and attention to Joe D's stay at Swan Nursing. You are all in our prayers. Joe D is no longer in pain, and is with our mother Vera, Father Joe for whom Joe D was named, and our two older brothers, John and Bobby Jim. God's Blessing on all. You are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers always. Christine and Bruce McMeans.
