Joe Boyd Meaders

Joe Boyd Meaders, 78, of Greenwood, beloved husband of Bernice Going Meaders, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Born in Greenville on February 10, 1947, Joe was the son of the late Roy Johnny Meaders, Sr. and Mildred Brown Meaders. He was a proud graduate of Carolina High School and Greenville Technical College.
A dedicated U.S. Army veteran, Joe entered service in September 1967. He completed NCO school at Fort Benning, Georgia, in 1968, where he also earned his Jump Wings upon graduation from Airborne Jump School. Joe proudly served his country in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division, D Company, 1st Battalion, 506th Airborne Infantry Regiment, from September 1968 to September 1969 and was honorably discharged as an E6 Staff Sergeant later that year. An avid outdoorsman, Joe found joy in gunsmithing, hunting, fishing, camping, and off-roading-especially in his Jeep. For many years, he was an avid golfer. He devoted nearly 30 years to Union Carbide/Kemet Electronics and later became the owner and operator of Skills Resource Training Center/Emerald City Staffing, which he ran for over 20 years before retiring. A man of faith, strength, and integrity, Joe lived life with purpose and adventure, cherishing every moment spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Going Meaders; his children, Joseph Meaders (Allie) of Abbeville, Ashley Anderson of Lexington, and Leslie Perez (Philip) of Austin, TX; five grandchildren, Avery and Seth Anderson, Layla and Emery Perez, and Keegan Joe Meaders; and two brothers, Roy Johnny Meaders, Jr. of Piedmont and Allen Brown Meaders (Connie) of Lake Greenwood.
He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Carolyn Meaders.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, at Greenville Memorial Gardens, with Mr. Eric Meaders officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, at Blyth Funeral Home.
