Joey Paul Eli Haynes, age 22, was born on July 25, 2002, in Durant, Oklahoma, and passed away on March 24, 2025, in Yukon, Oklahoma. He moved to Yukon with his family in 2016 and quickly became a beloved member of the community.
Joey graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science and was in the process of pursuing his Master's degree in Computer Science at the time of his passing. Joey worked at the Yukon Walmart for five years, balancing his education and job with remarkable dedication.
Joey's passion for research led him to co-author a groundbreaking study with the University of Oklahoma on the impact of artificial lights on bird migration. This important work was presented by Joey and published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, along with several other esteemed scientific journals.
A man of many talents, Joey was self-taught in advanced contemporary classical compositions on the keyboard, and he had a deep love for music. He was also an avid drummer and enjoyed exploring the world of musical production. His creativity extended to his love of botanical arts, where he found joy in planting giant sunflowers and cultivating his own beautiful garden.
Those who knew Joey remember him as a kind, compassionate soul who made a lasting impact on everyone he met. He enjoyed helping others in need and cherished his time with his family, particularly during their Bible study sessions with his mom. Joey was a beloved son, brother, friend, and truly a beautiful human being with a heart of gold. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Joey is survived by his parents, Joe and Teri Haynes; his siblings, Amelia Haynes, Katrina Mohamed, Bahaa Mohamed, and Patrick Hubbard; his cousins, Joseph Davis, Andrea Davis, and Shae Rasmussen; and his aunt, Sandra Rasmussen.
