CLAXTON, Johanna Patricia - age 86, of Linden passed away Monday, September 8, 2025. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, September 16 at the Chapel of the Holy Innocents, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Monday, September 15 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, where a Rosary will be held at 7 PM; visitation will also be 10-11 AM Tuesday, September 16 at the Church Chapel. Those desiring may make contributions to the National Kidney Foundation.
Johanna was born on November 15, 1938 in Warren, MI the daughter of Adam Edward and Lottie Mary (Fortuna) Janicki. She was a 1956 graduate of Fitzgerald High School in Warren. Johanna married Kenneth Claxton on June 5, 2004 at the St. John Chapel. She worked as a lineman for Chrysler for 18 years, retiring in 2003. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. Johanna was an excellent cook who liked to bake and play bingo. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her beloved Yorkie, Stuart "Velcro." Johanna liked to jokingly refer to the women in her family and close friends as "bad girls!". She was an outstanding wife, mother and grandmother and would do anything for her family.
Surviving are: her husband, Kenneth; children, Marie Schaefers, John Karaszewski, Thomas (Lisa) Karaszewski, Robert (Vicky) Karaszewski, and Diane Peila; her twin brother, John Janicki, and her brother, Leonard (Liliana) Janicki; sister-in law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ron Schoof; grandchildren, Derek Schaefers, Bobby Karaszewski, Anthony Karaszewski, David and his twin brother, Steven Karaszewski, Samantha Schaefers,T-Jay Karaszewski, and Skylar Karaszewski; 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Edward Janicki; sister, Mary Jane Grivas; sister-in-law, Barb Janicki; and her brother-in-law, Paul Grivas, and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Paula and Dan Mansur. Online tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
