John Basler Obituary

He was born in Port Huron on April 14, 1944, a son of the late Casper and Betty (Coleman) Basler. John married Connie L. Shanks on March 9, 1963 at the Forester Methodist Church in Forester.
John was a lifelong Sanilac Township farmer, and owned and operated the family farm, Basler Farms, with his father, Cap and his brother, Charles.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Basler of Carsonville, two children, Julie (Dennis) Ryan of Brighton and Jeffrey (Tabatha) Basler of Clarksville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Suzanna Johnston, Blayne Basler, Hunter Basler and Johnathon Ryan; one great grandson, Lucas Johnston; his sister, Connie (Larry) Panduren of Carsonville.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Roger Basler and Charles Basler.
Visitation will be from 11 A.M. – 1 P.M. on Tuesday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Carsonville. Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home. Pastor Dan Packer of the Deckerville Bible Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Port Sanilac Cemetery.
Memorials in memory of John may be to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Dear Connie & family, our condolences on the passing of a beloved great man, father and friend. I think fondly of the time I spent with all of you, to which my wife can attest, as I have often spoken of my summers working on your farm. We are praying that God will give strength and comfort to all of you as John is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and in Christ, we shall all meet again one day in our heavenly home. Dear Connie and family, I will be thinking of you all with Love&Prayers today.
John was such a special and caring man I know this world will not be the same without him.
I will always cherish the many wonderful memories of the times we all spent together when our kids were all young and we would come to visit my parents in Port Sanilac. My parents loved you and John so much too.
May God Bless you all with his peace and comfort in the day´s ahead.
