John Filz Bateman Jr.

John Filz Bateman Jr., age 76, went home to be with the Lord on Friday May 12, 2023 at his home. He was born in Delaware County, Pennsylvania and was the son of the late John Filz Bateman Sr., and Myrtle Coover Bateman. He was a 1965 graduate of Chester High School and soon after married the love of his life Joan Keeley Bateman with whom he enjoyed 57 years of marriage. He worked as a machinist for Clifton Precision and Southco for many years, and also proudly served his Country in the Army Reserves for 6 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, archery, and fishing. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Joyce (Bateman) Runkle. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Joan Keeley Bateman; his children Janice Williams (Wes), John Bateman (Michele), and Jeff Bateman (Amy); his sister Joan (Bateman) Hewlings, as well as 11 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday June 10, 2023 at Chadds Ford Baptist Church: 415 Baltimore Pike Chadds Ford, PA 19317. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. also at the Church. Lunch will be provided following the service at the Church.
