John served his community as a teacher and coach in the Kearsley School District and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Davison and Journey Ministries.
John is survived by his daughters, Ann (Todd) Ziems and Kathy (Saad) Shah; as well as four granddaughters, Aubrey Ziems, Madison (Andrey) Merzlyakov, Nyelah Shah, and Samrina Shah; special friend, Marylee Hubel and many other loving family members and friends. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Jeanette (White) Batson; and his twin brother, Robert Batson.
