John D. Beaulieu, Sr. 74, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at UP Health System - Marquette after a courageous battle against cancer.
He was born July 21, 1949 in Farmington, Maine, son of the late Edward and Madolyn (Richards) Beaulieu. John graduated from Jay High School in 1967. He was a Korean War Veteran of the United States Army, serving as a Military Policeman and K9 handler. John married L. Louise L'Italien on August 21, 1971 in Wilton, ME. He was employed with International Paper in Jay, ME for 20 years prior to transferring to the Quinnesec paper mill in 1989. John retired from the mill in 2002. In his early years, he enjoyed coaching his sons' football and baseball teams with Area Youth Sports in Jay, ME. John was an avid rock and agate hunter. He always found the first agate and the biggest yooperlites. He also enjoyed traveling to Maine to spend time with his family, gardening, camping and playing Cribbage and Yahtzee. He will be remembered most for his generous heart and deep love of his family.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Louise; two sons, John Jr. (Jennifer) Beaulieu of Jay, ME and Andrew (Angie) Beaulieu of Ishpeming; a daughter, Jennifer (Don) Weide of Chocolay Township; four grandchildren, Parker, Connor, Lacy and Brianna; two sisters, Charie (Harlan) Barker and Evelyn (Norman) Chabot; sisters-in-law, Brenda Beaulieu, Jeanette (Bob) Merrill & Marie Hamel; brothers-in-law, Paul (Pat) L'Italien and Robert L'Italien; and many nieces and nephews, as well as dear friends Jaime Hathaway (Duane and Jo Ann), and David and Joyce Clement of Iron Mountain.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Norris and Linda Wiley; three brothers, Neil, Larry and Brent Beaulieu; a sister-in-law, Gloria Beaulieu and three brothers-in-law, Bill Wiley, Rene L'Italien and Bob Hamel.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A memorial service 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Msgr. Joseph Gouin will officiate. The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will conduct full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwoods AirLifeline.
