PLAINVILLE – John "JB" Bellavance, 82, a lifelong resident of Plainville, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, after a prolonged battle with Lewy body dementia. Born in Attleboro, MA, on April 10, 1942, John was the loving son of the late Francis Bellavance and Anna (Durspek) Bellavance and the brother of the late William Bellavance and Judy Eisnor. He was the devoted husband of Ann (Cavaliere) Bellavance, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.
John is survived by his loving children: Karen Hurley and her husband, John, of Plainville; Rebecca Hagarty and her husband, Michael, of Martha's Vineyard; and Todd Bellavance and his wife, Patricia. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Mathew, Christina, Paul Jr. (P.J.), Nicole, Jonathan, Erin, Jackie, and Sean, as well as his great-grandchild, Beckett.
John grew up in North Attleboro, MA, and graduated from North Attleboro High School in 1960. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in engineering from Northeastern University. He dedicated nearly 40 years of his career to Bergh Brothers as a machinist and engineer, later continuing his profession at MS Jewelers Company, where he worked for 21 years before retiring in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A man of many talents, John's hobbies and accomplishments included machining, engineering, auto mechanics, carpentry, stone masonry, clockmaking, and marksmanship. Known for his ingenuity, he was often seen driving his 1928 Model A or his bright red TR6 around town or enjoying time at his favorite hunting camp in Maine. He was an active member of the Marcom Model A Club, the Plainville Beagle Club, the Angle Tree Stone Rod Club, and the South Shore Rifle and Pistol Club.
John's kindness and willingness to help others were hallmarks of his character. Fondly referred to as "the Dad who can fix or build anything," he brought positivity and resourcefulness to every situation. He was a true gentleman and was deeply admired by those who knew him.
John's legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at the Sperry-McHoul-Pichi Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro, followed by a prayer service officiated by the Reverend Joseph Escobar at 2:00 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be private. Relatives and friends are warmly invited to attend.
John was a proud supporter of The Jimmy Fund and a "Pacesetter" for the organization. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Jimmy Fund at www.jimmyfund.org.
