John Romaine Braund

Reverand John Braund, 92 of Redmond Oregon left this earth to join our Lord February 23.

He was born in Williams IA to Sara and Jay Braund. He moved to California where he met and married Mary Lou Jenni with whom they had 3 children. In 1958 he graduated from San Francisco Theological Seminary. He served as pastor for 42 years at churches in California and Oregon, including 12 years at Community Presbyterian Church in Redmond. He served the town in other ways as well, including as a member of the Kiwanis, on the Redmond school board and as a little league coach. After his retirement he continued his ministry as a hospital chaplain in Medford.

John enjoyed taking his family on road trips across the US, introducing them to national parks and historical sites. Most summers included a couple working weeks in Sequoia National Park and Lake Tahoe, where John would serve as visiting minister. He enjoyed the beauty of the area from the perspective of the motorcycles he rode with his sons.

As a sports fan, John was always up to attending a college football or basketball game in California and Oregon, spring training in Phoenix and any baseball games he could find where his Dodgers were playing. He also enjoyed playing cards with his family where his sense of humor always shone through.

Friends and family meant everything to him, and he leaves behind many that loved and miss him dearly.

John leaves behind his wife Linda, son Douglas and sister Linda, as well as 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his first wife, Mary, son Steve and daughter Cynthia (Cindy).

A memorial will be held of March 14 at 1:00 at Community Presbyterian Church in Redmond.
