John Bredenberg, Jr. Obituary
John Jay Bredenberg, Jr., 81, a resident of Pennybyrn in High Point, NC passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, due to complications from Alzheimer’s. He was born on October 20, 1942, in Augusta, Georgia the son of the late John Jay Bredenberg and Helen Brenner Bredenberg. He was preceded in death by his sister: Helen Bredenberg Smith.
John graduated from the Academy of Richmond County in Augusta, GA and received his Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He retired from Western Electric and Lucent Technologies in engineering and management. He lived in Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana, New Jersey, Illinois and retired in North Carolina.
He loved the Lutheran Church, his family, and playing bridge.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen Kathleen Markey Bredenberg of Greensboro, NC; his children, Dr. Helen Keipp Bredenberg Talbot, married to Dr. Thomas Robert Talbot, III of Nashville, TN, John Jay Bredenberg, III, married to Kathy Jane Bredenberg of Charleston, SC, and Peter Brenner Bredenberg, married to Dr. Erin Linn Bredenberg of Denver, CO and grandchildren, Thomas Robert Talbot, IV, Anna Kathleen Talbot, Marian Markey Bredenberg, Edmund Charles Bredenberg and Juliana Fae Bredenberg. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family appreciates all the love and care that John received at Pennybyrn and the love and support that Helen received.
The graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11:00 am at Westover Memorial Park in Augusta with Pastor David Hunter officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in John’s memory to Pennybyrn at Maryfield in High Point, NC or the Alzheimer’s Association.
