John R. Burrell (born 7.20.1931 in Philadelphia, PA) entered into the fullness of Resurrection Life through the Lord Jesus Christ on 12.02.2024.
In his early years John came to appreciate and enjoy the beauty and order of the natural world. He loved the outdoors.
While attending Springfield High School, Montgomery County, he met his future wife, Carolyn E. Klein. John enrolled at Penn State University and graduated in 1953. In June of the same year John and Carolyn were married. In July he enrolled in the United States Navy Officer Candidate School (OCS) and served his country as a naval officer.
In civilian life John worked in sales. In his retirement years he enjoyed building over fifty elegant ship models. John was a man of faith and strived to love God and serve others in need.
In June of 2023 John and Carolyn celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
John is survived by his wife, four children, and extended family: Laurie Pappas (Mark), Nancy LeVasseur (John), Janet Gildner (Eric), and Mark Burrell (Charlene). Grandchildren: Matthew Baker (Tiffany), Jason Baker (Maribeth), Paul Manz (Nora), Heidi Lengel (Andrew), Stephanie Terauds (Alex), Peter Gildner (Alyssa), Zachary Baker (Laura), Rachel Pitman (Aaron), Sarah Turner, and David Burrell. Great-grandchildren: John, Henry, Liberty, Charlotte, Noah, Adelyn, Gunner, Jethro, Esther, Jaelle, Penelope, and Hannah.
The date for the Celebration of Life service is yet to be determined.
