It is with heavy hearts that the Byrd family announces the passing of their cherished brother and uncle, John Anthony "Tony" Byrd, who passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the age of 49.

Born on August 9, 1975, in Hartsville, SC, Tony was the beloved son of the late Johnny Alton Byrd and Odessa Alexander Byrd. He was a proud graduate of Hartsville High School, Class of 1994, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix. He was actively pursuing a master’s degree in the same field from the same institution at the time of his passing. Tony was employed with the Darlington County School District as an MDM/Network Administrator in the IT department.

Tony had a passion for cooking, especially baking, and enjoyed working on various craft projects. He enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends, whom he loved like family. He had several lifelong friendships that he treasured deeply.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his sister, Angie Brigman; brothers Johnny (Allison) Byrd, Randy (Dottie) Byrd, and Bobby (Angel) Byrd, all of Hartsville; and 14 nieces and nephews, along with several great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Allen Byrd and Michael Byrd.

Funeral services will be Thursday September 5, 2024 at 2:00 at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Marvin Griggs and Ms. Crystal Barnes Parker will officiate. Burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Norton Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the Byrd family.
