John Wayne Byrd, 65, of Sedalia, Missouri, died Friday morning, April 18, 2025, at Caring Hearts and Hands in Columbia, Mo.
He was born November 2, 1959, in Warsaw, Mo., the son of Jess Jackson "Jack" Byrd and Mary JoAnn (Mace) Byrd. He married Brenda Sue Withers and she preceded him in death April 10, 2025.
He was a driver for a trash company and also an over-the-road truck driver. He was a hard worker but made time to go cat fishing and "junkin." He loved getting together with family, especially for a good barbeque.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Brittany Amos (Robert), Merriam Woods, Mo., and Joann Byrd, Leavenworth, Kansas; 7 grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner, Mason, Miley, RJ, Aryana, and Chase; 5 great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Angela Counts; 2 sisters, Nancy Edmiston, Tonganoxie, Ks., and Karen Petesch (Dennis), Atchison, Ks.; 2 brothers, Joe Holtmeyer (Sheila), Windsor, Mo.; and Larry Provance (Marlana), Windsor, Mo.; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
In addition to his wife Brenda, he was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Tom "Beaver" Byrd and Robert "Bobby" Byrd; and a step-son, Jason Birchler.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 2, 2025, at Fredonia Cemetery, near Warsaw, Mo.
