John Carr Obituary

John J. Carr, 65, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 11, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband of Margaret "Margie" Vazquez-Carr with whom he shared 37 years of marriage and 40 beautiful years together.

John was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on March 19, 1960 and was the son of the late John E. and Carol Ann (Smith) Carr. He attended Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton, Massachusetts and continued his education attending Anna Maria College and graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice.

John proudly served with the Brockton Police Department for 22 years, following his earlier service with the Park Police. His dedication to public safety and his community was evident throughout his career. After more than two decades of honorable service, John retired from the department, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and commitment.

John served as a State Representative for District 26 as well as a Selectman for the Town of Brookline. He was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Third Order of St. Dominic, reflecting his strong spiritual foundation as a Traditional Roman Catholic.

John had a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed leisurely walks, a good cup of coffee, and all kinds of music. In his younger years, he was an avid athlete, playing football, baseball, and hockey.

One of John's greatest joys was spending time with his family, particularly during cherished trips to Cape Cod. What began as a childhood tradition with his parents and brothers became a beloved ritual he passed down to his own wife and children. The sight of any Cape Cod beach never failed to light him up.

Above all, John treasured his family. Whether gathered for holidays, summer vacations, or everyday moments, his happiest times were those spent surrounded by the people he loved most.

In addition to his wife, Margie, he is survived by his six children, John Patrick Carr and his wife Malia, Samantha Carr Scott and her husband Harold, Michael Carr and his wife Lindsay, Alexzandrea Carr, Katherine Carr and Elizabeth Carr; his ten grandchildren, Aiden, Maxwell, Emelina, Lily, Benjamin, Evelyn, Oliver, Madelyn, Felicity, and Kolby. He is also survived by his two siblings, Dennis Carr and his wife Lori and David Carr; as well as his two nephews, Dennis and Joseph Carr.

Relatives and friends are invited to John's visitation on TUESDAY, September 16th from 4:30 until 7:30 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. His Requiem Funeral Mass will be held on WEDNESDAY, September 17th at 10 AM in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 43 Franklin Street, Nashua, celebrated with Fr. John Brancich. His interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Nashua.

John, was so special. It would be difficult to find a more decent man than he. To Margie, his wonderful children and his beloved grandchildren, you know this to be true: "Your husband, dad and grandfather will have a place in heaven reserved only for the very best."

Don and I wish the entire Carr family love and comfort at this difficult time. Each of you played an important part in John's care and well-being as he navigated many years of health challenges. That is a testament to your character. There is no wife more dedicated than you, Margie. You are truly an angel on earth.

We knew John for decades and his faith and his family were his life.

We will miss his daily phone calls to check in and to impart his unique "wisdom."

Rest easy in the arms of God's love, friend.
