John David Chapman Sr.

John David Chapman, Sr. 72 of Woodland, GA passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Piedmont Northside Hospital in Columbus, GA.
Johnny, as he was best known by his family and friends, was born April 3, 1953, in Manchester, GA, the son of Edgar E. Chapman, Sr. and Barbara Ann Chapman. He started at the early age of 17 years old as a butcher at Colonial Grocery Store and later Big Star.. His true passion was fishing which he won numerous Bass Tournaments throughout the southeast, before starting Johnny Chapman's fishing guide service. He later started Chapman's Deer Processing having been self employed and running his own business for over 40 years.He loved the outdoors. He loved hunting in every season, but fishing was his passion. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his son John David Chapman, Jr. of Greenville, GA, longtime companion Jane Forbus of Manchester, GA, brothers Edgar (Mary) Chapman, Jr. of Peachtree City, GA and Ken (Stephanie) Chapman of Woodland, GA, sisters Sandra Harrell of Peachtree City, GA and Nancy (Randy) Stewart of Pawleys Island, SC along with many nieces, nephews and longtime friends.
Memorial services for Johnny Chapman will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home 93 Prather Barnes Road Manchester, GA. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory. The family also requests that you please sign the online registry and leave condolences for the family on the tribute wall page.
