John Cioppa Obituary
John A. Cioppa of Winthrop, MA, formerly of Chelsea and East Boston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 23, 2025 after four weeks of intense fighting with courage, grace and incredible strength. He was 80 years old.
John is the beloved husband of 53 years to Linda F. (Forgione) Cioppa. Loving father of Cheryl Moschitto of Winthrop and Michelle Cioppa of East Boston. Devoted Papa to Aryana Brennan and her husband Andrew and the cherished great grandfather to four beautiful children. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Salvatore Moschitto.
Upon graduating from Boston English High School, John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1966, After being honorably discharged in 1970, he went to work as a Mail Handler at the Logan Airport Post Office, retiring in 2005. A man of deep integrity and quiet dignity, He selflessly served his country during the Vietnam War and he carried that same honor and faith throughout his life. He always put his family before himself – giving, protecting, and loving them with all he had. The dash between his years was filled with love, laughter, sacrifice and devotion to his country, to God, to his friends, family and even strangers. He believes in the promises of Christ, and the assurances of His salvation.
He will be forever loved and deeply missed by his wife, his children, granddaughter and great grandchildren and everyone blessed to have known him. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
Family and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Wednesday, October 29th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the Vertuccio Smith & Vazza Beechwood Home for Funerals 262 Beach St. Revere, concluding with a Funeral Service at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
