John William "JW" Cline, age 91, went home to be with Jesus on the afternoon of January 30, 2026, at his residence in
Jasper, Georgia.
John was born on January 17, 1935, in
Mexia, Texas, to Ernest Eli Cline and Georgia Mae Cline. From an early age, he showed determination and discipline, qualities that carried throughout his life. In high school, he was an accomplished athlete, participating in football and track and field.
Following graduation, John proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany from 1953 to 1954. He later continued his education and graduated from the University of Texas in 1960.
John was of the Baptist faith and was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where his love for the Lord and his church family was evident throughout the years.
On April 20, 1957, John married the love of his life, Dana Levy. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work, sharing nearly seven decades of marriage.
John began a long and successful career in the aggregate and white marble industry in the summer of 1966 with Bilbrough Marble Company in Burnet, Texas. His career led him across the country, and in 1973 he moved his family to Sylacauga, Alabama, where he became Plant Manager for Georgia Marble Company. His tenure with Georgia Marble eventually brought the family to
Jasper, Georgia. After the Marble Hill operation was acquired by Imerys, John continued his service there before later sharing his expertise as a consultant for Huber at Marble Hill. His knowledge, leadership, and integrity left a lasting impact on the industry.
John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Dana Cline; his children, John Cline (Jill) of Danville, Virginia, Joni Dorsey (Van) of
Jasper, Georgia, Jason Cline (Olga) of Cumming, Georgia; five grandchildren, Jay Cline (Sarah), Jennifer Doss (Jared), Natasha Cline, Natalie Mantione (Orion), Bogdan Cline; and five great-grandchildren, Dayla Cline, Jake Doss, Miriam Cline, Jennabeth Doss, and Grady Cline.
John will be remembered for his strong faith, steady leadership, and deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the generations that follow him.
