On behalf of the Kameda Family and the many staff of the Kameda Medical Center who travelled to UIHC or met John Colloton during his trip to Japan, we want to express deep sympathy and sincere condolences on just learning of his passing in November.
And a belated and very deserving debt of gratitude for his personal and professional kindness that sustained a relationship with the Kameda Medical Center for more than 30 years. During his tenure of UIHC leadership, the relationship flourished to mutual benefit and continues. From watching Michael Jordan play in Chicago during ACHE to sipping from the Administrator´s Briefcase at a Hawkeye game, John Colloton was a good friend and mentor and his courtesy and hospitality during our visits to the UIHC over the years was beyond extraordinary. He visited the Kameda Medical Center in 1995 to help us during the Grand Opening of our Kameda Clinic, accompanied by Amy O'Deen and Sam Levey. There were numerous staff exchanges, nursing student visits and mutual visiting professors during his tenure. With his guidance and support, more than 30 graduate students in the Graduate Program in Hospital and Health Services Administration, completed summer internships at the Kameda Medical Center. There are many Hawkeye fans here.
We will remember him fondly and miss him.
With the most heartfelt condolences and sympathy to his family.
