John Crawford, age 69, of Ledbetter, KY, passed away on January 12, 2025, at Lourdes Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Elgin, IL, on May 21, 1955. John lived a full life, defined by his devotion to family, his love for the open road, his delight for classic cars, and his passion for his grandchildren.
John was a proud member of the Local 181 Union, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. His work ethic and dedication to his craft earned him the respect of his peers, but it was his infectious smile and hearty laugh that truly left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether he was on the job, at home with his family, or out riding his Harley, John had a way of making every moment feel special.
John leaves behind his beloved wife of 26 years, Adrianne Crawford. He was a devoted father to his daughter Breanne Ayers and her husband Joshua, and his son Shad Macfarlane and his wife Sue. He was also a proud grandfather to his eight grandchildren: Teagan, Braxtyn, Adalynn, Greyson, Jaxyn, Bryce, Maycie, and Rylee who were the light of his life. John took immense joy in his role as a grandfather, always eager to share his time and love with his grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his father Gordon Price as well his previous wife Roxanne Crawford and Uncle Earnie Earley, both of whom held a special place in his heart. He is survived by his three brothers: Jeff Price, Jerome Price, Jim Price and several nieces and nephews.
John's love for life extended beyond his work and family. He had a deep passion for riding his Harley, feeling the wind in his hair as he explored the open road with that ever-present John smile' on his face. He also had a keen appreciation for old muscle cars, always ready to talk shop while sitting in the garage surrounded by friends and family.
The family will remember John not only for his unwavering love but also for his ability to light up a room with his infectious laugh and warm heart. He was a man who truly lived life to the fullest, and his memory will be cherished forever by those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
A memorial service will begin at 5:30 PM on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Hughes Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM on Friday.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in his name. John's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will miss him dearly but carry with them the memories of his love, laughter and zest for life.
