Mr. Crews was born on September 2, 1966, in Atlanta, GA, the son of Johnny B. (Chipper) and Brenda Faye Crews. Affectionately known as Lightning, he retired as Captain with the Douglas County Fire Department after serving for 35 years. At the time, he was the most decorated firefighter in Douglas County. He enjoyed traveling, going to estate sales, and spoiling his granddaughters, who lovingly knew him as Pop. He was thoroughly enjoying his retirement.

Other than his parents, he is survived by his fiancée Kimberley Giudici of Roanoke, AL; his daughters Laura (Marcos) Barajas of Temple, GA and Amy Crews of Douglasville, GA; siblings Gregory Crews of Prattville, AL, Gail Crews of Boise, Idaho, and Christopher (Becky) Crews of LaGrange, GA; granddaughters Ava Monroe Barajas (13), Emily Faye Barajas (8), Kori Ann Barajas (6), Naomi Jade Marshall (5); nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the chapel of Cox Funeral Home, located at 93 Prather Barnes Road, Manchester, GA 31816. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Meriwether Memory Gardens with Firefighter Honors.
