John Crose Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory on Mar. 23, 2024.

John L. Crose

80 of Mooresville, passed away on March 23, 2024 at home, surrounded by his family. John was born on January 11, 1944 in The Grange, Barbados, British West Indies to the late Lester Alton Crose and Ruthe Marie (Hamon).

John was a graduate of Butler University where he earned a degree in chemistry and zoology, and later earned two master’s degrees, one from Anderson University in Divinity and another from the University of Indianapolis in environmental science. John combined his passions of helping people and the great outdoors, as he worked for the Indiana State Health Department in Environmental Sciences and was a minister with the Church of God for many years. Additionally, he was a chaplain for the Plainfield Police Department for 20 years. Above all else, John enjoyed spending time with his family, being outdoors fishing, and taking pictures of wildlife. He will be remembered as a faithful servant of Christ and a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dixie (Stewart) Crose; son Brad Crose (Michelle); daughter Amy Cox (Ronald); sister Alta Ruthe Jack; grandchildren Ally, Claire, Lydia, Sam, Calvin, Mary, Audrey, and Lily, who will all miss him dearly.

A Celebration of John’s life will be held privately at a later date. He will be cremated and laid to rest in Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to be made in John’s memory to the Camby Community Church, 8604 Camby Rd, Camby, IN 46113, https://cambychurch.org/ .
