John Danzi Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel, Inc. - New Rochelle from Apr. 17 to Apr. 28, 2023.
John Danzi 66, known as "JD", sadly passed peacefully in his home after battling a short illness with his wife and loved ones by his side and his dog Spike at his feet. John was born in Freeport Long Island New York on January 2, 1957, and grew up in East Meadow and lived in New Rochelle for the remainder of his life after attending Iona College.
John was a previous owner of the famous "Leo's Deli" of New Rochelle. He then went on to work at Lange's Deli in Bronxville N.Y. for the last 25 years. John was a big talker with his customers as he worked and took pride in making sure the customer was happy. He was a perfectionist concerning his customers.
John is survived by his wife Deborah, son Tyler Danzi, stepson Justin Perri, sister Cathy Danzi and brother Nicholas Danzi. He was predeceased by his parents John and Ann Danzi and his sister Joann Abbate. He has many nieces and nephews who loved him and enjoyed being in his company.
John loved to cook and took pride in his family dinners that included friends. He was a diehard New York Mets and Buffalo Bills fan. He loved to go on road trips with his wife and experience new adventures. He looked forward to attending the annual horse races in Saratoga NY every summer.
John was always the life of the party. He made everyone laugh and made friends everywhere he went. He had a knack for cracking jokes as he conversed. He easily spread joy and happiness wherever he went. He lived in the same home for over 30 years, and it was not unusual for John to bake cookies for his neighbors. He looked forward to his daily walk around the New Rochelle High School lakes with his best friend Jimmy and Spike. He would meet other walkers and become friends very easily. John will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

John was a wonderful fellow and a friend to all those he met. He was an institution in Bronxville, having brought his quick wit and a smile to literally thousands of people he saw throughout the years. He guided many of our children on their path through life. His memory will live on in all that he touched. One of the good guys...

Big John was the most welcoming friend every time we walked into Lange's Deli. He knew my kids by name and always went out of his way to say hello to each of us. Even on his busiest days, he always threw us a wink or a smile. Our entire family feels this loss and we are sending our deepest sympathies to his family. We feel blessed to have known him during our 20 years in Bronxville.
Sincerely,
Christi, David, Kelly, Mikey and David Weild

John was a hard worker whom never seemed to pass on making Lange´s feel like every local´s dream "village deli" experience. Heaven maybe has found its match with Big John! Thanks for the memories man.

John, you were everything your obituary stated and much more. I have fond memories of our times at Iona and with Sigma Delta Phi. Still more memories of you at the gatherings over the years. You are a hard act to follow.

You will be missed.

Prayers for your family and friends.

Love,
Your Brother and friend Ray
