John (Jack) Louis DePodesta passed away at home in Summerville, SC on August 1, 2024. Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years Donna Shaheen DePodesta; 3 daughters: Mariann Chritton Barefoot (Rich) of Summerville; Diana Kortenhoeven of Summerville; and Cheryl DePodesta of Richmond, VA. Eleven grand children: John Chritton (Valerie) of Washington, DC; Mallary Butler (Bryan) of Summerville; Gates DePodesta (Megan) of Washington, DC; Jack Kortenhoeven of Summerville; Brittany Bostic (Trey) of Lexington, SC; Danielle Barefoot (Lex) of Baltimore, MD. Seven greatgrandchildren: Sarah, Hailee, Dani, Webb, Audrey, Billy and Kate.
Jack was born in Detroit, Michigan, May 5, 1938. The DePodesta family started Paragon Bridge and Steel Company in Novi, Michigan. Paragon built bridges for many of the expressways in the Detroit area and built automobile carriers for transporting cars via the railroads.
Jack and Donna moved to the Charleston area in 1987. Prior to retirement Jack enjoyed working with people in his careers as a sales executive and Realtor for Horne Realty and The Pines at Gahagan. Jack and Donna were owners of the National Home Video in Mt. Pleasant, SC from 1987 - 1993.
Jack enjoyed being with family and friends, baseball, basketball, bowling, golf, card games, pool and beach time. His smile and laugh will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Ark, Alzheimer's Family Support Service at PO Box 1540, Summerville, SC 29484.
Friends and family are invited to a casual gathering at the Pines at Gahagan clubhouse, 501 Gahagan Road, on Saturday, August 17, 2024 between 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
