John is one of the very first people I remember in my life. While he and my Aunt Marianne were dating(how young they must have been!) I had my first train ride in their company, visited New York City and Rockefeller Center , saw the Nutcracker Ballet with them, and ate all the dinner rolls at the restaurant on the skating rink.
John drove a flashy black Chevrolet convertible--maybe a 1953 or 1954--with a red stripe down the side and I THINK I remember standing up in the back seat as we tooled down the road. I was 3 years old.
He was a great friend to my father, Harry Kaiser, and the moment I heard of his death I thought, Ah, Dad will be happy to see him.

Although I won't be able to visit on the Ist or 2nd, Trish and our daughter Eleanor {Nellie} will be coming from Boston. We
remember many special times with John,
appreciating especially his sharp, insightful humor. Our best to everyone.
