John "Jack" F. Donahue II, 68, of Bristol, passed away on August 2, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital after a brave but short battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on February 2, 1956, in Waltham, MA, Jack was the son of the late John F. and Mary (Webb) Donahue.
Jack leaves behind his beloved wife, Kimberlee, and his three devoted daughters: Christine Oyola and her husband Peter of Newington, CT, Julianne Donahue of Bristol, CT, and Tricia Donahue of Easton, MA. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Jeyda, Ela, Mikail, Eli, and Gianna. Jack is also survived by his two sisters, Joyce Gianfelice and Laura Urquhart, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Janet Donahue.
Family was everything to Jack. His greatest joy came from talking about his wife, daughters, and grandchildren; his favorite people called him 'Dad' or 'Papa'. Jack's warmth and kindness left an everlasting mark on everyone he met. He had an extraordinary ability to make others feel like family, extending his heart to friends and loved ones alike.
Jack devoted 40 years to Allstate Insurance Company as a casualty manager, but his passions extended far beyond his career. He was a dedicated Boston sports fan, cheering on the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins with unrelenting enthusiasm, and was proud of his Irish heritage. Jack also loved the water-whether it was the ocean or his pool-and looked forward to family vacations and St Patrick's Day Celebrations with great anticipation.
Jack's legacy of love, pride, and connection will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, as well as his contagious smile and beautiful blue eyes. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched, and the cherished moments shared with those he loved.
Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 10th, at 11am, at St. Joseph Church, 33 Queen St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 9th from 3-7pm at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Friends are asked to meet at the church the morning of the funeral. It is with much shock and sadness that I've just found out about the recent passing of my friend Jack Donahue. I first met Jack back in 1993, when I initially began my career at Allstate Insurance Company. Jack was one of the first people I met at the office, and he always went out of his way to be friendly and make me feel welcome. We soon became good friends, and quickly discovered we had many common interests that we could discuss for hours on end - our Boston sports teams, tastes in music and favorite bands, movies, etc as well as our shared Irish heritage. While we worked together, we shared many DD coffee runs with our co-workers in the morning, and many happy hours with our colleagues after work. Although I grew up in Connecticut and Jack near Boston, we shared some similar life experiences and an overall outlook on life in general. When we attended our first managers conference together in Vermont in 1996, and I was unable to find a roommate for our stay, Jack gladly volunteered and we ended up having a great time. Jack was always free with his time and provided me with much counsel and guidance while we were together at Allstate. He was a mentor to me. We also attended several sporting events together with our colleagues, including UConn basketball games at the Hartford Civic Center. Jack brought me (the stray dog) over to his house on several occasions, and his wife Kim and beautiful daughters are also some of the kindest, warmest people I have met. Although we lost track of each other when I transferred out to Chicago for several years, we subsequently re-connected again through Facebook when I moved to Boston several years ago. Jack was truly one of kind and I'll never forget his Irish sense of humor with a twinkle in his eye. He will be missed by many, rest in peace my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

My deepest condolences. I am stunned and saddened by this loss. Jack was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I mostly knew him when we were around age 19-20, "Jackie D!" Then life whizzes along and you sometimes loose track of people. Last time I saw him was 3 or 4 years ago.. Thirty plus years had gone by, but he looked at me, smiled and waved.. recognized me instantly, as if we had seen each other the week before. He really knew how to do that. He will be sorely missed.
