Susan "Sue" M. (Baldwin) Simmons, 76, of Bristol, wife of John Simmons, passed into eternal life on January 17, 2025. She died at home, where she loved being most, with her husband John at her side. Born on July 24, 1948 in Torrington, CT, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Ellene (Yuchunas) Baldwin.
She attended Terryville schools, graduating from Terryville High School in 1966. She went on to enjoy a career in Terryville's school food service program until the tragic death of her youngest daughter, Jennifer, on April 3, 1997. Sue and John were high school sweethearts and raised 3 daughters together.
Affectionately known as Mamma, Sue spent her retirement actively involved in the care of her grandchildren; they were a great source of joy to her.
Besides her husband John, Sue is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law Marie and George Zollo of Southington, CT, and Allison and Kenneth Wadowski of Bristol, CT; four grandchildren Angelina and Peter Sheen, Nicholas Zollo, Jonathan Wadowski and Benjamin Wadowski; her great granddaughter Annunziata Sheen and a second great granddaughter, soon to be born, Rosalina Sheen; two sisters-in-law Rose Parenti and her partner Chet Santia and Joyce Simmons; her special cousin, Ann Baldwin; her two nephews William and Nancy Lozito and Anthony and Elizabeth Parenti and several great nieces and nephews. Sue was predeceased by her brother and sister, and her daughter Jennifer.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jenny Turci for her compassionate care and support of Sue and the entire family over the past several weeks.
