Obituary published on Legacy.com by DuPont Funeral Home, Inc. on Nov. 13, 2024.
Wayne Andrew Bush, 84, of West Haven CT passed away on November 6, 2024. He was born on December 29, 1939, in Philadelphia, PA to his late parents, Vincent and Gertrude Bush. He graduated from Overbrook High School, served in the US Army and later completed his studies at the Community College of Philadelphia. Wayne was a skilled diesel mechanic and his job with International Harvester transferred him to Connecticut in the 70's with ex-wife, Verdell and their three children. Wayne ended his working career as a diesel mechanic instructor for a trade school, a role he truly enjoyed.
In general, Wayne was a simple man. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing his guitar with a glass of scotch, completing projects with his hands, and debating his favorite hot topics - unafraid of arguing his case, for hours, with anyone who would listen. Wayne was determined to talk again following the removal of his voice box due to cancer, retraining himself to speak well without the voice box, so much so his physicians would use him as an example for others. In addition, Wayne was an avid dog lover. His home shared with his wife Carol was home to many pups throughout their 40 years of marriage, most recently with their sweet basset hound Arnie, who has his own seat at the kitchen table.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his stepfather, Harold, his brothers, Vincent and Harold Jr. and his son, Richard. Wayne is survived by his wife, Carol and her three sons, Michael, Marc and Thomas Mastropetre; his sons Anthony & Andrew, Michael and daughter-in-law Jocelyn, his daughter, Karen; his brother, Anthony (Brenda), his sisters, Carol (Steve) Clark, Antoinette (Fred Benton), Deborah (Martin) Garett, Elene (Jerome) Dudley, and a host of nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
