John Kelly Dyehouse III passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Born in Hamilton, Ohio on March 6, 1941, he was the son of John Kelly and Flora Dyehouse. He grew up and spent his young adulthood in Ohio. He studied architecture at Miami of Ohio, the University of Cincinnati & Kent State University. He worked for Dalton-Dalton Architects in Cleveland as a project designer for six years. Then he opened his own firm. In 1978 he pursued his dream of moving to
Naples, Florida where he had lived and worked as an architect for the past 47 years.
After moving to Florida, John worked in the field he loved, designing private homes and public buildings, right up until the day he passed. He had been a president and partner in Moyer and Dyehouse, Inc. then Dyehouse and Associates which evolved into Dyehouse and Comeriato Architect where he had worked alongside his dear friend and co-worker Frank Comeriato of 35 years. He was known for his creativity and knowledge of local permitting codes, as he would tell you.
Beyond architecture John was a painter, photographer, avid reader and golfer. His works of art have been mentioned in different publications.
John was a cherished brother, father, uncle, great uncle, and friend who brought wisdom, laughter and joy to all he met. He was a great story teller.
John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Thelma Koehler and Pauline Davis; and his brother-in-laws Lee Purdy and Orville Koehler.
He will be dearly missed by his sister Penny Purdy; children Jennifer (Bill) Moore, Jodi (Eddie) Scarito, and Johnny (Jessica) Dyehouse; his grandchildren Ryan (Caylyn), Tyler and Teagan Moore; many nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces; and his dear friends Laura, Cynthia, Jason, and Julienn.
