John Dare Evans, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and cherished friend, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in Weatherford, Texas. He was born on December 12, 1947, in Winnie, Texas, to L.N. Evans and Eloise (Dean) Evans, and lived a life marked by unwavering faith, heartfelt music, and compassionate service.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, John served his country with honor and dignity. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University in 1970, reflecting his commitment to growth, knowledge, and personal excellence. But it was through music that John found his truest calling and ministry. For 14 years, he served as a devoted music minister, sharing the gospel as a gifted singer with the Gospel Friends of Texas. Whether performing in churches, senior living centers, or community gatherings, John used his talents to uplift souls and glorify God.
He was a faithful member of the North Main Church of God, where his love for Christ was evident in both word and deed. Known for his jovial spirit and warm, encouraging presence, John had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. His music, both heartfelt and genuine, was an extension of his love for people and for the Lord. With his guitar in hand and praise on his lips, he touched lives and left melodies lingering in the hearts of many.
John also had a great love for golf, a pastime that brought him joy, friendly competition, and lasting memories with those he loved. He will be fondly remembered for his infectious laughter, kind eyes, and the steady faith that defined his life.
John is survived by his wife of four years, Lou Evans; children, Heather Currie and her husband, Jeff, Becca Evans, and Aaron Hamerman and his wife, Gina; grandchildren, Megan, Gavin, Monica, Blakelee, A.J. and his wife, Geddy, and Tyler; and great grandchildren, Maddock and Haz. He also leaves behind a host of extended family, friends, and church members who were blessed by his friendship and enriched by his presence.
A memorial service to celebrate John's life and legacy will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2025, with a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m., at North Main Church of God, 803 North Main Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086, officiated by Rev. Daniel Prince.
