John W. “Stretch” Fallon, 80, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Born in Boston, son of the late John W. “Howie” and Mary (MacDonald) Fallon, Stretch was raised in Dorchester and Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of 1963. He attended Stonehill College in Easton and graduated from the Harvard University Union Trade School. Stretch was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam Era and being honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
Stretch was the brother of Mary Kelley and was predeceased in death by his brother, Charles. H. Fallon Sr. (SFD) and surviving wife Judith, and Ann Fallon Swanson. Although he had numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, he had a close relationship with his five nephews Charles H. Fallon Jr., Sean D. Fallon (CFD), Jerome Fallon, Mark Kelley and Chad Kelley.
Stretch was a firefighter with the Town of Stoughton for 37 years before retiring in 2009. He was also a legislative agent with the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts (PFFM) for 20 years and was an integral part of passing legislation during his tenure. After his retirement from Stoughton Fire Department, he worked for the National Alliance of Government Employees for 10 years.
Stretch was a member of VFW Post 1645, American Legion Post 89 and AMVETS Post 1977 all in Stoughton, the American Legion Post 24 in Canton, and the Randolph Elks Lodge 2103. He was a lifetime member of the McKeon AMVETS Post 146 in Dorchester and a longtime member of the Canton Town Club. He was a former member of the Greater Boston Firefighters Pipes & Drums.
Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, February 19 from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday, February 20 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne on Monday, February 23 at 11:15 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stretch‘s memory may be made to PFFM Foundation at www.pffm.org in memory of John W. Fallon Jr. "Stretch".
