John N Fauta

John N. Fauta, 77, peacefully entered eternal life on September 3, 2023 at his home surrounded by family and friends. John Fauta was accomplished in many facets of his professional life. One of his most proud accomplishments was serving as the Superintendent of Schools of the West New York Public School District. John graduated from St. Michael's College in Vermont where he played basketball and joined the U.S. Marine Corps immediately following his college graduation. John's life and love was with the Hudson County Community - a graduate of North Bergen High School and after returning from military service he owned the West New York Florist.
John Fauta's passion for academics and athletics drew him to the field of education. He worked in the West New York School District for 22 years as a Social Studies Teacher, Basketball Coach, Assistant Athletic Director, Vice Principal at Memorial High School, Principal of Public School #3, Assistant Superintendent, and retired as the Superintendent of Schools of the West New York School District in 2015.
John's accomplishments stretch far beyond academics and athletics. John was a beloved husband and Poppy as he leaves a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a love for his family, friends, colleagues, and community. He will always be remembered as a leader but to his daughter, Irene, he was her hero and role model - a man of kindness, gentleness, and perseverance. John is survived by his wife Georgina, who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be at Barrett Leber Funeral Home, 148 Dean Dr., Tenafly on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org
