John Fineberg
September 16, 2008
When I was studying broadcasting at the U of M, I always intended to shorten my name from John Fineberg to John Fine. But then, in 1969, I met John. There went that idea! But it was the beginning of a great and long friendship. John's taste and enthusiasm for music had a lasting effect on me. And, for as long as the two of us both worked in radio (KQRS and KRSI) in the Twin Cities, even though our voices were distinctly different, listeners never did figure out that there were two of us.

I grew up with John, I can remember sitting in his garage listening to Finger Tips part 1 and 2 by Stevie Wonder over and over again! He was one of my Brothers Best friends, and now they are both gone...RIP Dick and John!

My sincerest sympathies to the family of John Fine. He was a great co-worker at WJON, very talented and very entertaining. I too have thought of him over the years and wondered where he had landed. I can see his smile and hear his laugh! Yes, he was a very funny story teller. Please know many, many of us will remember him fondly.

John was a terrific, very kind person. He videotaped several of my stage productions. I even got him onstage in "Brigadoon". He was wonderful! I'm so sorry for his loss.

No much that I can add but John did have that great smile and sense of humor. And he was really turned on by video production which I think was largely self taught. We worked off and on at WJON as well.

I am shocked and sadden by the loss of John. I worked with him for many, many years at WJON Broadcasting, St. Cloud, and have many really good memories of him. His talent, and professional contributions to the stations were tremendous...along with his "fine" personality as an associate and friend who loved to laugh with us and enjoy life.
My sincere and heartfelt sympathy for your loss. May God Bless and keep you in his care, especially during this difficult time.

Dear Brier and extended family,
I was so sad to hear of John's passing; I also worked with him over the years at WJON and enjoyed his sense of self-effacing humor and especially his creativity in radio. When he was in a great mood, he was so entertaining! Like many of us, I have not been in touch for many years, but it seems like yesterday we were chatting in the hallway at WJON. My sumpathies.

Worked with John at WJON Radio in St. Cloud and liked him a lot.
Great sense of humor and was always concerned about others. Lost touch when he left but never forgot him. My condolences to his wife and daughter and family.

Brier,
My sincere condolences on the passing of your father, John. Your dad and I worked together for a number of years at WJON/WWJO in St. Cloud, MN. I really liked your dad. He'd pulled himself through so much by that time. He was very intelligent, very talented and gave 100%. I know that you will miss him very, very much.

My condolences to John's brother, Pat; his daughter, Brier and to his ex-wife, Andrea.
I worked with John for several years in St. Cloud and was always amazed by his many talents. I have some of his video work that is absolutely genius and priceless. I also have a lot of fond memories and great stories as they relate to John. He was a kind and compassionate man and truly a unique individual. I, like many other former co-workers, wished we could have spent some time with him in recent years.
John is already missed.

I didn't know John Fine, but he left his mark on my taste in music. I listened to KQ in the early to mid-70's, and remember his name well and with considerable fondness. Condolences for your loss.

To John's Family,
I knew John from the old neighborhood when we were teen agers. We had a large group of friends that hung out together. Many of us are still in contact with each other. We wondered where John had gone and now we know. But it is too late except to give our condolences for your loss.
