John Michael George, 80 of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on July 14, 2025. The following is an obituary written by his loving family.
John M. George was born in Bedford, Indiana, March 17, 1945, to John and Anita George. He grew up between Indianapolis and Bedford. He attended grade school at SDA Church School. He later attended George Washington High School. He met his future wife, Pat George, during school. They dated and married May 21, 1966, and had three children. He later applied for employment at IFD on his way to apply for the state police department. The rest is history.
During grade school he developed his interest in art, poetry, and singing. High school further developed art, history, and tennis.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Patricia; his daughter, Dawn Michelle (Scott) Whitecotton; his son, Jamie (Jackie) George; his son, Johnathon (Nikki Sexton) George; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Eric M.D. Bell Funeral Home, from 1 pm to 2 pm, with the funeral service beginning at 2 pm. John will be laid to rest with military honors in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana, on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 11 am.
Memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association.
