John D. Giovanoni, 77, Martinsville, passed away after a brief illness April 10, 2022. John was born November 30, 1944, in Bedford, to the late George J. and Mary Elizabeth (Dusard) Giovanoni. He married Connie (Perry) Giovanoni on February 8, 1986, and she survives.
He attended St. Vincent de Paul School in Bedford, graduated from Bedford High School, and earned a degree in Literature and Spanish from Indiana University. John had a successful career in insurance, working for Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Affiliated Life Insurance Agency, before becoming an independent agent. Following retirement, John embraced his true passion of being an artist. He enjoyed painting oils and using pastels to create beautiful portraits, religious art, and more recently animals. A devout Catholic, John was an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, where he enjoyed singing and was often the cantor at Mass. He was also an avid IU basketball fan.
John's dedication to his faith set a beautiful example for his family. He was a true patriarch, loving husband, proud father, and grandfather. John's memory will be forever cherished by his loving family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Giovanoni.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Connie; children, Regina Shepard, Angela (Mark) Land, Johnny (Laura) Giovanoni, and Laura (Matthew) Kohut; grandchildren, Natasha, Erikka, Alyssa, Mariah, Anthony, Olivia, Avery, Leah, Reece, Vincent, Gianna, Wesley, Xavier, and Ezekiel; great grandchild, Luca.
John's Life Celebration® Visitation will be Monday, April 18, 2022, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2022, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1200 N. Indiana Street, Mooresville. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m., at Miller Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Church or Masses are preferred. Visit www.CarlisleBranson.com to share a favorite memory or to sign the online guest registry.

John was such a kind and caring person. He always had a smile and positive word. I admired his humble devotion to his faith and family. His artwork leaves a legacy of beauty.

John was a very kind man, I knew him back when I worked at Indiana heart Phy. him and Connie were dear to my heart . I remember his art work , he was a awesome painter and a very kind man . my prayers go to the family and to Connie .
