John Rudy Gonzales, a lifelong resident of Montopolis, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Christopher House operated by Hospice Austin, at the age of 59. His passing followed a courageous battle with complications from liver cirrhosis and cancer.

John was born in Austin, Texas, to his loving parents, Irene and Johnny Gonzales. He was a proud graduate of Austin High School, where he cheered on the Maroons. Throughout his life, John was dedicated to his work and his community. He began his professional career as a co-founder of J & J Carpet, where he worked alongside his father and his uncle Willy. He also dedicated his time working for the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department and later with Meals on Wheels, as a delivery driver.

Known for his spunky, fun, and outgoing personality, John valued family more than anything else. A devout Christian, he wore his cross necklace daily and believed in Jesus Almighty. He was the biggest sports fan ever, dedicating his free time to watching the Longhorns, the Dallas Cowboys, the Houston Astros, and the Houston Rockets.

John also cherished celebrating his time with his cousins, Alfred and Ponsas and was famous for cooking his delicious Fideo with cheese. His musical tastes ranged from classic rock legends like Ozzy to the timeless sounds of Foreigner. Those who know him will remember his favorite sayings, "Na, Na, Na, Na," and "Qvoe."

John is preceded in death by his beloved father, Johnny "Bulle" Gonzales; his brother, Johnny Gonzales Jr.; and his uncles, Herman "Star," Richard "Ricky," and Gilbert.

He is survived by his devoted mother, Irene Gonzales; his sister, Nancy Jaramillo (husband-Jimmy); his nephews, John and EJ Munoz; his niece, Vanessa Flores; and his cherished pet, his bird, Elvis.
