Salmon Funeral Home and Cremation ServicesJohn W. Goodwill Jr. of Aragon, GA, a devoted father, grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025 at the age of 92. Born in Owasso, Michigan, on July 16, 1933, John was the son of the late William and Ruth Goodwill.
John served his country honorably in the United States Air Force as a Policeman, a role he carried out with dedication and pride. Following his military service, he began a long and successful career with Lockheed Martin, where he worked until his retirement.
Known for his competitive spirit and love of the lanes, John was an avid bowler who achieved numerous perfect games. In his younger years, he found joy and adrenaline in racing cars and motorcycles — a passion that reflected his bold and adventurous nature.
John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth Goodwill; his stepmother, Wilma Goodwill; his beloved wife, Barbara Goodwill; the mother of his children, Paulette Goodwill; and his sisters, Mary Mathewson and Maxine Brakel.
He is survived by his children: Tammy Goodwill, John (Kathy) Goodwill, and Tim (Shannon) Goodwill; and his stepchildren: Marci Goodwill, Lori (Jake) West, Steve (Robin) Mullinax, and Dana (Scott) Eisterhold. John also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and his brothers William (Carol) Goodwill and Clifford (Fern) Goodwill.
Memorial Graveside Services to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. John Goodwill will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Georgia National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America in loving memory of Mr. Goodwill.
John will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love of family, and the many lives he touched through his kindness and humor. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
