WADESBORO - On Monday, July 24, 2023, Mr. John William Goodwin, 74, passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Union in Monroe.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, July 30, 2023 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Washington and Rev. Brad Green officiating.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.
Burial will be private at a later date in Forestville United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lilesville.
John was born March 3, 1949 in Caribou, Maine and was a son of the late Mack Neal Goodwin and the late Mona Miller Goodwin. He retired as an electrical inspector with Union County in Monroe and was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church in Wadesboro.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Wendy Goodwin of Indian Trail,, John "Bubba" Goodwin, Jr. (Patricia) of Morven, Ray "Tubby" Goodwin (Kim) and April Melton (Kevin) both of Wadesboro; his son of the heart, Wayne Barber of Polkton; his grandchildren, Sean Barber, Chris Barber, Meghan Barber, Brittany Goodwin, Bianca Goodwin, Amy Goodwin, Amber Mical, Bethany Johnson, Steven Goodwin, Brandon Goodwin, Brooke Franklin, LeAnn Johnson and Hailey Fleming; 14 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Sandy Martin of Rockingham, Barbara McDuffie of Kannapolis and Betty Gilmore (Eddie) of Lilesville; his sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Goodwin of Lilesville and his nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Mack Goodwin and Freddy Goodwin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to El Bethel Baptist Church, 1812 McRae Ave., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
