John C. Granz Jr., 76, of West Orange, NJ, passed away on October 23, 2025.
John was born on October 31, 1948, in East Orange, NJ, to John C. and Virginia (Burns) Granz, and grew up in Orange, NJ. He married his beloved wife, Lucia, in 1974 and they settled in West Orange.
John was a dedicated and hard-working employee with the Township of Maplewood for nearly 40 years, retiring as an automotive mechanic foreman in 2011.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Spec 5 sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division.
John enjoyed gardening and being outdoors, and he cherished spending time with his grandchildren.
John was the beloved husband of Lucia A. (nee Rubinetti); devoted father to Christine Granz and Stephanie Tafro and her husband, Anthony; cherished grandfather of Tyler and Sophia; dear brother of Barbara Current and her husband, Tom; also survived by his sister-in-law, Marie Rubinetti.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., with a service beginning at 2:30 p.m., at the Shook-Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Avenue, Roseland, NJ, shookfarmer.com.
