John Charles Grice, 79, of Jefferson City, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Delmar Gardens in Chesterfield, Missouri. He was born February 18, 1945, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of James and Mae (Franks) Sons, who preceded him in death. He was married to Shirley Ann (Perrey) Grice who also preceded him in death.
John was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in St. Louis, Missouri, then attended St. Mary's College in San Antonio, Texas. John worked as a nursing home administrator at Sunset Healthcare for 43 years, retiring in 2015. John loved going to all the family functions and visiting grandkid's activities. He was a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his son: Ryan Grice of Chesterfield, MO; his daughter: Lori Myers of Ballwin, MO, and 3 step-children: Bradley (Angie) Scrivner of Holts Summit, MO, Barry Scrivner of Olathe, KS and Brent (Shelly) Scrivner of Jefferson City, MO; 5 grandchildren: TJ Myers, Jake Myers, Nadia Grice, Noah Grice, and Sabrina Grice; 3 great-grandchildren: Eva Myers, Marlie Kevern and Isla Kevern; 5 step-grandchildren: Hannah Kevern, Lindsay (Chris) Hall, Emily (Tanner) Sperle, Olivia Scrivner and Zoe Scrivner and two sisters: Nancy Kay Winkeler of St. Louis, MO and Mary Helen (Dave) Steingass of Napoleon, OH. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruthann Cantrell.
Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Holts Summit. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Richard Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow at the Perrey Family Farm Cemetery in Holts Summit.
Expression of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
