John Ramsdell Guthrie, age 83, of Osage Beach, Missouri passed away unexpectedly on December 5, 2024 at his home. He was born on January 9, 1941 in Glendale, California; only son of Theodore and Clara Fiske Guthrie (Ramsdell). He was united in marriage to Marilyn (Lyn) on July 24th, 1982 in Tarzana, California.
John was an entrepreneur having many small businesses over the years, never really retiring. He enjoyed all aspects of electronics and engineering, enjoyed taking cruises and meeting new people, and was very good with trivia. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and frugalness which he would joke about being very proud of.
John and Lyn were foster parents to more than 70 children. After spending most of their time in California, they relocated to the Lake of the Ozarks just two years ago.
John is survived by wife, Lyn Guthrie, daughter, Johnna Dawn Overin, sons, J.T. Guthrie, Craig Guthrie (Silena); grandchildren Carly (John Paul), Kira (Jacob) and Collin, great-grandchildren Crew, Brighton, and Ever.
John was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Greg Overin, and sister, Judith Estelle.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes, 514 Highway 42, Osage Beach, MO 65065 (573) 348-3232. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.hedgesscottmillard.com.
