John M. Hamilton, Sr., 71, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, May 4, 2024, at St. Agnes Hospital with his family at his side. He was born in Antigo, WI on October 18, 1952, to Wilfred and Marcine (Beckman) Hamilton. John was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps (USMC), having served with the 3D Marine Division “The Fighting Third” in Vietnam. On December 24, 1979, he married Julia Thompson in Fond du Lac.
Survivors include his wife, Julia; four children, Jennifer Hamilton, John (Sarah) Hamilton, Jr., Kim Jenkins, and Jamie (Nick) Santillo; seven grandchildren, Ann Marie Vores, Emil (Emily) Schwitzer, Christina Hamilton – Fernandez, Daniel Hamilton – Fernandez, Madison Santillo, McKenzie Santillo, and McKayla Santillo; four great-grandchildren, Haylee Jenkins, Hannah Jenkins, Colton Schwitzer, and Weston Schwitzer; special niece, Tammy Galliant and her children, Robert Backus and Carly Mignella; special nephew, Ricky Syers; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Ronald Hochstaetter; two brothers, Charles, and James Hamilton; and his sister, Karen Estrada.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Monday, May 13, 2024, at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow, beginning at 7:00 PM. Following the service, Military Funeral Honors will be rendered by the USMC and American Legion – Trier Puddy Post #75. Cremation has taken place.
