80 year old, John E. Hastings, of DeMotte, passed away May 21, 2024, at his home.
On May 19, 1944, John was born to Ralph and Dolores (Allen) Hastings, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was a graduate of DeLaSalle High School. John then married the love of his life Lynda Schuller, on November 28, 1964, in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. John loved being a car salesman, and was semi-retired from Schepel Buick-GMC. He enjoyed spending time with his family, wife: Lynda, children, and grandchildren. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, in East Chicago. John enjoyed spending time working in his yard, and around his home. John was also an avid reader and liked to travel.
John is survived by his loving family: wife: Lynda, children: Paula (Gene) Brock, Shelly (Doug) Kamminga, Bob (Lisa) Hastings, 6 grandchildren: Nathan (Allison) Brock, Katelyn (fiance’: Dalton) Kamminga, Cameron Hastings, Kyle Kamminga, Madison (Alex) McGowan, Justin Brock, 4 great-grandchildren: Mazikeen McGowan, Ella Brock, Breeze McGowan, Brodie Brock, + 2 on the way, and 9 fur babies. His surviving siblings: Joanne Jackson, Tom (Char) Hastings, and Bill Hastings.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the DeMotte, Connection Center 1315 15th Street, DeMotte, Indiana.
