Dr. John Howard Hedger

Dr. John H. Hedger of Salisbury, MD passed away peacefully at age 82 following a long illness. Dr. Hedger, a son of Howard and Elenor Hedger, was born on August 21, 1943, in Buffalo, New York.
Dr. Hedger earned a Bachelor of Science degree, a Master's degree in Anatomy and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Buffalo University. He completed his studies in 1975.
In 1980, Dr. Hedger joined Peninsula Orthopaedics Associates in Salisbury. He was a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon concentrating on Sports Medicine and Foot and Ankle Surgery. He was highly respected and beloved by his many patients. He also served as team doctor for athletics at Wicomico Senior High School. He retired from POA in 2008 as its chief Operating Officer.
Dr. Hedger is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sandy, and by his children, John (Jack) Howard Hedger, Jr. (Adrienne) of Manhattan Beach, CA; Karen Hedger Lynch of Kittery Point, ME and Matthew Hedger (Amy) of Salisbury. Dr. Hedger is also survived by his grandchildren, Kathleen and Claire Hedger; Haley and Julia Lynch; William and Ryan Hedger and by two sisters; Judith Moalic of Andros Island, Greece and Ellen Winkler of Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William T. Hedger.
A communicant of St. Francis DeSales Church in Salisbury; he was also a member of the Unted States Army Reserves. He loved sailing, the family camp in the Adirondacks and the Buffalo Bills.
Friends may call at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury from 5:00-to-7:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 5, 2025. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis DeSales Church on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11:00 A.M.
