John William Higdon

John William Higdon, 85, of Yorkville, Tennessee, died on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at his residence in Yorkville, Tennessee.
Born Wednesday, June 2, 1937, in Gibson County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Lucian Hollis Higdon and the late Annie Marie Bell Higdon. Mr. Higdon was a retired employee of Jimmy Dean Foods. He was a dedicated member and Deacon of Bethel Baptist Church. He was a former Aldermen for the City of Yorkville and member of the Pearl Masonic Lodge #200 and OES Mason Hall Lodge # 395. Mr. Higdon proudly served his country in the Tennessee National Guard.
Funeral services for Mr. Higdon will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 11, 2023, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Bro. Billy Criswell. Interment will follow in Yorkville Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Higdon will be held on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of fifty-nine years, Mary Alice Huffine Higdon of Yorkville, Tennessee; four sons, Kenneth Higdon of Yorkville, Tennessee, John W. "Bubba" Higdon, Jr. (Tammi) of Yorkville, Tennessee, Van Huffine Higdon (Penny) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Lee Higdon (Louann) of Zebulon, Georgia; one brother, Jimmy Higdon (Mary Ann) of New Braunfels, Texas two sisters, Joy Capps of Raleigh, North Carolina; he was "PawPaw" to his four grandchildren and a host of great-grand children and his fur friend, "Charlie"
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Jean Ray and one brother, Hollis Higdon.
Honoring Mr. Higdon as pallbearers will be Kenneth Higdon, John W. "Bubba" Higdon, Jr., Van Huffine Higdon, Lee Higdon, Colten Higdon and Brandon Higdon. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Higdon, Jeff Robbins, Bubba James, Justin James, Allen Leitherland, Prakash Julai, Robby Mullins, W. T. Sims, James Dunagan, Ron Howard, Stan Sims. David Upchurch, Gene Allmon, Jack Gregory and Men from Bethel Baptist Church.
The family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Old Bethel Cemetery, % Bethel Baptist Church, P. O. Box # 12, Yorkville, Tennessee 38389.
